You do not need a contractor’s license to rent professional-grade equipment from ACE Equipment Rentals. We serve homeowners and DIY weekend warriors across the Quad Cities just as enthusiastically as we serve commercial crews. Whether you are renovating a kitchen, regrading your backyard, tearing out an old patio, or finally getting around to that fence project, we have the right tool to make it doable — and affordable.
Based in Bettendorf, Iowa at 3466 State Street, we are open Monday–Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM with one of the most contractor-friendly weekend specials in the QC. Pick up Friday after noon, use the equipment all weekend, and return Monday at the one-day rate. That is why DIYers love ACE: you get the same equipment a professional crew rents, without paying a pro to swing it. Call (563) 271-4732 or hello@rentaceqc.com to reserve.
Every weekend, our parking lot fills with homeowners loading up for the project they have been planning for months. We see lawn renovations (aerator + overseeder), patio demolition and rebuilds (concrete saw, jackhammer, plate compactor), backyard tree removal (stump grinder, chipper), fence installation (post hole auger), basement waterproofing (vacuum excavator, plate compactor), driveway sealing and pressure-washing (pressure washer, trash pump), garage remodels (scissor lift, drywall lift), and the seasonal cleanup that comes with every Iowa fall. If you can dream up the project, we can probably equip it.
Even if you have never rented equipment before, we walk you through it. We will show you how to operate the machine safely before you leave the lot, and our team is a phone call away if anything comes up on the job. New to rentals? Read How Rentals Work for a step-by-step overview.
Lawn Renovation and Landscaping. The Commercial Z Turf Ride-On Aerator core-aerates a typical Iowa suburban lawn in under an hour. Pair it with the Ecolawn 250 self-propelled overseeder/compost spreader for a full lawn renovation in a single Saturday. Need to remove old turf and start fresh? The Turfco Sod Cutter strips old grass cleanly in straight passes. For tilling new garden beds, grab the Earthquake Versa front-tine tiller.
Tree and Stump Removal. Took down a tree but stuck with the stump? The Vermeer SC30TX tracked stump grinder chews through stumps below ground level — even big ones — in a single afternoon. Got branches piled up? The BC1000XL towable woodchipper turns yard waste into mulch you can spread back in your beds.
Fence and Post Installation. Putting in a fence, deck posts, or signage? The Ground Hog 1-Man post hole auger drills clean holes by yourself, or grab the 2-Man auger for harder soil. For a long fence run, the Ground Hog tow-behind auger attaches to your truck or tractor.
Patio, Concrete, and Masonry Projects. Tearing out an old patio? Cut clean lines with a Hilti concrete saw — the DSH 700-X 14 inch gas cut-off saw is our most popular homeowner rental, with the DSH 600-22 battery-powered saw as a quieter battery option. Break the slab with the Hilti TE 2000-22 cordless jackhammer or its bigger electric sibling, the TE 3000-AVR. Compact the gravel base for your new patio with the Wacker Neuson plate compactor. Pouring new concrete? The 3.5 cu ft Kushlan electric concrete mixer handles small batches at home, and the Hilti 4-22 cordless concrete vibrator consolidates the pour properly.
Pressure Washing and Outdoor Cleanup. Spring cleanup means decks, siding, and driveways. The Mi-T-M 2700 PSI cold-water pressure washer handles most homeowner jobs. For grease, oil, or persistent stains, step up to the Mi-T-M 4000 PSI hot-water pressure washer. Got water in the basement after a storm? The Titan trash pump pumps debris-laden water fast.
Interior Home Improvement. Removing old flooring? The Crain 710 power flooring stripper pulls up vinyl, tile, hardwood, or carpet glue without breaking your back. Drywall ceilings on the to-do list? Rent the PanelLift drywall lift for safe overhead installation. Need to reach high spots for painting, gutter work, or replacing fixtures? The 19 ft Genie scissor lift is electric and quiet enough for indoor use.
Power and Air for the Project. Out of reach of a wall outlet? Our 6500-Watt portable generator runs most contractor tools and small job-site equipment. Got a hot, humid workspace? The 30-inch industrial fan or 20-inch fan moves serious air for drying drywall mud, painting, or just keeping the garage workshop bearable.
You get the same equipment the pros use. When you rent from ACE, you are not stepping down to a “homeowner version” of a tool. The Hilti saws, Vermeer grinders, and John Deere skid steers in our fleet are the same machines our contractor customers use every day.
Honest pricing and clear options. Same Day rental for a quick afternoon job, 24-hour for a longer one-day project, weekly when life gets in the way and the project takes longer than planned. No surprise fees, no upselling — just the rate, the deposit, and the gear.
Knowledgeable team that respects DIYers. We will not lecture you because you are not a contractor. Tell us what you are trying to accomplish, and we will recommend the right tool, walk you through how to operate it, and give you tips from years of seeing similar projects. Some of our best customers are weekend warriors who treat the rentals like their own.
Weekend Special. The single biggest reason DIYers love ACE: pick up after noon on Friday and use the equipment all weekend at the one-day rate. Read the details on our Weekend Specials page. For a Saturday-and-Sunday patio demo, this can cut your effective rental cost in half.
First-time renting? It is simple. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s license is perfect) and a 50% deposit. Decide on rental duration — Same Day, 24-hour, weekly, or monthly. We will show you how to operate the equipment safely before you leave, and you are on your way. Return the equipment in the same condition you got it: full tank of fuel for gas-powered units, thoroughly cleaned. That is it.
If you are tackling a multi-tool project (say, patio demo with a saw + jackhammer + plate compactor), call ahead — we can often bundle the rental for a better rate. Read more in our Rental Policies and answers on our FAQ page.
We serve homeowners throughout the Quad Cities including Bettendorf, Davenport, Moline, Rock Island, and East Moline. Pick up at our Bettendorf shop or — for bigger equipment — ask about delivery. Most of our DIY customers pick up the gear themselves to save the delivery fee, and we make loading easy with our forklift and ramps. Our Bettendorf location sits right off State Street with plenty of room for trucks and trailers.
Do I need to be a contractor or have a business? No. We rent to homeowners every day. A valid photo ID and 50% deposit is all you need.
What if I have never used this kind of equipment before? We will show you how. Our team walks every renter through proper operation before they leave the lot. Bring questions, and ask for tips — most of our staff has done these projects themselves.
Can I get a discount for renting multiple items? Often yes, especially for project bundles (saw + jackhammer + compactor, or aerator + spreader). Call (563) 271-4732 and ask.
Do you have ramps or help loading? Yes. We help load equipment into trucks and trailers at pickup. Bring straps or rent a trailer from us — see our towable equipment.
Most DIY projects need more than one tool. Renting individual items adds up fast, which is why we offer bundle pricing for common project combinations. Patio demolition bundle: 14-inch gas concrete saw + heavy-duty jackhammer + plate compactor packaged for one rental period. Lawn renovation bundle: aerator + overseeder/spreader for a full Saturday renovation. Stump and brush cleanup bundle: stump grinder + woodchipper for full property cleanup. Fence project bundle: post hole auger + 6×12 trailer for fence-line installs. Just tell us what you are trying to do and we will price out a bundle.
Bring a friend. Most equipment is a one-person operation, but loading the saw or compactor into your truck is much easier with help. Two pickups can move a small dump trailer with much less stress than one.
Plan to spend more time than the project blog says. The first time you cut concrete or use a jackhammer, it takes longer than you expect. Renting for a longer duration (24-hour vs Same Day, or weekly vs 24-hour) costs less per hour and gives you breathing room. The Weekend Special is particularly forgiving — pick up Friday, return Monday, no rush.
Watch a quick YouTube tutorial the night before. Even basic equipment has tricks — how to start a gas saw cleanly, the right pace for an aerator, how to keep a tiller from running away from you. A 10-minute video the night before saves 30 minutes of frustration on the lot.
Bring fuel and personal PPE. Gas-powered equipment comes with a full tank, but if your project runs longer, you will need to refuel. Bring fresh gas (and oil-mix for two-stroke equipment). Bring your own safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves — we can sometimes loan PPE, but it is best to bring your own. For concrete work, bring a dust mask or respirator.
Ask about COI even if you do not have one. Most homeowner policies do not include the kind of liability coverage that earns the 10% discount, but if you have an umbrella policy or you rent often, it might be worth asking your insurance agent. See our COI Requirements page for what we accept.
The Quad Cities has all four seasons, and your DIY project should plan around the weather. Concrete work needs temperatures above 40°F for at least 48 hours after the pour — don’t tear out a patio in November expecting to pour new concrete unless you can wrap and heat it. Stump grinding and lawn aeration work best when the ground is not frozen and not bone-dry — early spring and early fall are ideal. Pressure washing wood decks works best in temperatures above 50°F so the wood dries properly. Tilling and planting needs the soil to drain after spring thaw — check that the ground is workable before reserving a tiller. Tree removal and trimming is easier in winter when trees are dormant and the ground is firm. Plan your project around the season that fits the work, not just your weekend availability — you will get better results.
