For indoor or enclosed-area concrete work, yes — both for worker safety and to comply with OSHA silica dust regulations. Concrete contains crystalline silica, and dry cutting or drilling releases it as airborne dust that is harmful to inhale.
Most of our Hilti tools support either dust extraction (with a compatible dust collector vacuum) or wet operation (with a water supply). The Hilti DCH 300-X Electric Cutter is designed specifically for dust-controlled indoor cutting. The Hilti DGH 150 Concrete Grinder pairs with dust collectors for floor prep work. The Hilti DD 150-U and DD 250-CA core drills run in wet mode for clean indoor drilling.
You can bring your own dust extractor and water tank, or ask us about availability. For occupied buildings (schools, healthcare, retail buildouts in active malls), this dust/water strategy is non-negotiable — both for the people in the building and your client relationship. Call (563) 271-4732 to plan the right setup before you arrive.
