The Vermeer Stump Grinder Cutter SC30TX is the right tool for almost every residential and small-commercial stump removal job. It is a tracked, walk-behind unit with a hydraulic-driven cutter wheel that chews through the stump and surface roots, leaving a pile of wood chips and a depression below grade.

How it works:

1. Cut the stump as low to the ground as possible with a chainsaw before grinding (saves time on the rental)
2. Position the grinder over the stump with the cutter wheel above it
3. Lower the wheel and sweep it side-to-side, taking shallow passes (1-2 inches per pass)
4. Move the machine forward and continue grinding until you reach 6-12 inches below grade
5. Backfill the hole with the wood chips, or remove them and replace with topsoil and grass seed
