Both lifts raise you up to elevated work, but they do it differently.
Scissor lifts (like the Genie GS series) raise a square platform straight up using crisscrossing supports. They are stable, support more workers and materials, and are perfect for indoor work where the project is directly overhead — drywall, ceiling tile, lighting, HVAC, ductwork, and painting. They do not reach forward or to the side. They run on electric batteries and are silent and zero-emission.
Boom lifts (like the Haulotte towable boom lifts) extend an articulating arm with a smaller basket at the end. They reach forward, around obstacles, and to the side — which makes them ideal for outdoor work like tree trimming, sign installation, exterior painting, building maintenance, and any task where the work is not directly above your starting position. They tow to job sites with a standard 2-inch hitch.
Need indoor reach straight up? Scissor lift. Need outdoor reach with horizontal extension? Boom lift. Call (563) 271-4732 if you are not sure.
